I live about 2.5km from my office and with the petrol price constantly on the rise I think a bicycle is the way to go.
No petrol, low maintenance and great exercise. The idea only sprung to mind earlier today when my cousin (@stefandeclerk) tweeted the Woodstock Cycle Works deal of the month.
When I saw this Retrospec All Steel Fixie it all became clear to me...I need it! This beauty includes
Check it out for yourself, and if you feel like buying a bicycle for yourself make sure to check out the Woodstock Cycle Works.
I’ve been pretty slack lately when it comes to blogging because my new job has been taking up a lot of my time and I’ve been suffering from ’internelessness’ at home. I have however managed to drag myself to the bank, then the V&A Waterfront last Saturday morning and I am now the proud owner of The Internet. Huge thanks to @lilmisslinguist for making the whole process so much better and incredibly fun. So let me just drop the Tuesday Tune on you because I’m tired of beating around the bush (and X-Men is on TV on the background – I’m not known for my multi-tasking skills).
Turn up the volume, and ease into today’s track: Crystal Castles – Not in Love ft. Robert Smith (of The Cure)
I heard this song for the first time on the new Danny MacaSkill Industrial Revolutions video, then I stumbled onto the official music video, and now this:
An Extract from a film called Protect Our Waves. I recently started taking up surfing as a hobby (and a sport) so it it pretty obvious why I chose these visuals above the others to accompany this brilliant song. Time to ease into Ben Howard – The Wolves
Okay so Ard Matthews made a mess of our National Anthem. Luckily it was in the Supersport Studio and not in a stadium full of thousands of paying fans, like our old favourite Ras Dumisani. Some people are completely outraged and others are having a proper “ROTFL” moment. The bottom line is, you SHOULD know your country’s National Anthem. I found an interesting and very explanatory little piece on our beautiful anthem on www.sarocks.co.za that I will share with you tonight.
Now here’s another local gem-of-a-band from Cape Town that you will definitely hear a lot from in the not too distant future. Juke Royal is a four piece band and if you check out this video you’ll see just what they’re all about:
Besides partying with blonde groupies and joking around these guys know how to rock a crowd with their awesome music. They have just as much of a presence in the studio as they do on stage. Have a listen to their song entitled Mr. Talk About It then you’ll immediately see what I’m talking about.
Watch out for: the part where Rob Smith (the master on bass and vocals) takes a swig of Castle Lager before he starts dropping some sweet lyrics. Legendary. Special thanks to @JadeMulvaney for introducing to to Juke Royal. Head on over to www.jukeroyal.com for a free song download and more information on the band.
